What Aithor.io is

Aithor.io brings together what you need to get an academic assignment done. You write it with a guide that suggests a title, an outline and each section; you search for and read scholarly articles; and you revise from your notes or from the paper you have just written. It is made for adult university students, from first-year essays to a master’s dissertation.

Three ideas shape everything we build:

• You write, with a guide. The guide makes suggestions. You decide what goes into the document and what stays out.
• Sources you can open. Guided writing cites real academic sources from OpenAlex and Crossref. With Aithor Pro, Check against the source goes one step further and shows you the exact sentence and page in the original article, as long as it has an open-access PDF.
• Your process, on record. The Process report shows how each part of your paper was written. It measures what happened in the editor: it does not certify that no AI was used.

Two practical details:

• Works in the browser on a computer or phone, at dashboard.aithor.io: nothing to install.
• Interface in 9 languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Indonesian and Hindi.

The company

Aithor.io is operated by Chatbot App Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong. It provides the service and is responsible for your personal data, as our privacy policy and terms and conditions explain.

Chatbot App Limited also builds other software products, each with its own brand and website. Aithor.io is its product for academic writing with real sources.

What we don’t do

A tool’s limits matter as much as its features. With Aithor.io:

• Citations can still be wrong. In internal testing, citations not supported by their source fell from 22% to 16%: it does not promise zero errors. That is why we keep telling you to read what you cite.
• No promises about AI detectors. No tool controls what a detector will report, and we don’t sell rewriting as a way to hide that you used AI.
• Nothing aimed at under-18s. Everything we publish is for university study.
• Free is for trying Aithor.io, not for finishing a paper. The free plan is a trial: its quotas do not renew, and each feature has its own limit, which we always show next to the number.

How we work on this site

Everything we publish on aithor.io follows four rules you can check on any page:

1. Each page is written by the Aithor.io team, with AI helping on drafts, and passes an automated editorial review of facts, sources and links before it goes live. At the bottom you’ll see “Editorial review: Aithor.io team” and the date. The details are in our editorial policy.
2. Comparisons with other tools follow a public method: one test brief for every tool, criteria published up front and a date. It is all on how we test.
3. Product figures come from a single record that we check against every app release, and the fact tables on our tool pages show when they were last verified.
4. Our position on using AI at university is set out in academic integrity.
